NASA missions to the Solar System is a patch program for Junior-Senior Scouts in Conestoga Council. All scouts must complete at least two Mission Prep activities. Juniors must complete two Mission Preps and at least one activity from four different missions. Cadettes and Seniors must complete an activity from at least six different missions plus two Mission Preps. Each activity in this patch program will highlight an aspect of a NASA mission taking place at the time. Every NASA mission is years in the making. Patch mission activities will be released as close as possible to the most exciting parts of each mission. For example, on September 8th , 2004 Genesis mission will return to Earth with a sample of solar wind material. For the first time ever, scientists will be able to hold and study actual particles that make up the solar winds! We will learn about the sun and why scientists want a ‘piece of the wind' through our Genesis Mission Activity. Special Council Mission Events will take place for some of the missions.
*Program Starts June, 2004*

Activities will be presented at Council Mission Events throughout the 2004-2005 school year and/or on this website. Web activities will be posted and Council Mission Events will take place approximately two weeks prior to the matching NASA mission. Each event will cost $2.00 per girl and include all the materials used in the activities completed.
The NASA Missions to the Solar System Patchs may be ordered through the Service Center for $1.50 each. Girls who attend two council mission events (and complete the patch program) will be able to order their patch free of charge. You can earn the Mission to the Solar System patch completely through the website, completely through participating in Council Mission Events or by combining web activities and Council Mission Events.
